The Adler Fellowship Program

Founded in 1977 as the San Francisco /Affiliate Artists Program, the Adler Fellowship Program is a performance-oriented residency program for advanced singers, which offers individual training as well as roles in special productions and the Company's international season. Up to 11 Adler Fellows are on salary during the 11-month contract period, during which they are directed toward roles of increasing importance. Frequent master classes supplement the training and provide invaluable experiences through coaching with artists such as Madame Régine Crespin, Hans Hotter, Leontyne Price, and Elisabeth Schwarzkopf. Artists whose careers were nurtured by San Francisco Opera's Affiliate Artists and Adler Fellowship Program include Nancy Gustafson, Patricia Racette, Ruth Ann Swenson, Carol Vaness, Deborah Voigt, Janet Williams, Dolora Zajick, Brian Asawa, David Malis and Monte Pederson.
