Walküre San Francisco Opera audiences didn't hear Wagner's Die Walküre until 1935, the time it arrived as part of the complete Ring cycle. But, that first outing, however, boasted a cast that included the Brünnhilde of Kirsten Flagstad.

Götterdämmerung Our 1935 Ring was a career 'first' for Kirsten Flagstad, who sang her first Siegfried Brünnhilde anywhere on November 6th. Here she is center stage in Götterdämmerung. Behind her is Lauritz Melchior (Siegfried) and Dorothee Manski (Gutrune). Down front with his back turned is Friedrich Schorr's Gunther; far left, among the spears, is Emanuel List's mustachioed Hagen.
